Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet

A community dedicated to Bitcoin, the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.

Peter R. Rizun:"Given Lightning's design and BTC's fees, it's inevitable that regular users will use custodial wallets. Bitcoin was designed for regular users to easily use non-custodial SPV wallets, which unfortunately are no longer fashionable..."

About to buy Bitcoin for the first time, which wallet should I use?

Hello Bitcoin reddit community,
I am about to buy some Bitcoin for the first time, and don't know what wallet I should use. This is my first time buying any cryptocurrencies, and am pretty new to the crypto world in general. The things I am taking into consideration are:

- I will probably invest in other currencies later and want to use the same wallet for buying different currencies
- I want to be able to transfer my funds into a different wallet if need be (I read somewhere that someone lost their investments when switching phones?) or be able to keep my funds when moving from an old phone to a new phone, phone to computer, etc.
- I want to have the least risk possible if the place holding my money gets hacked / I want to have my own control over my keys? don't know too much about this.
- Easy to use. Pretty much just using to hold for long-term investments until I am a lot more familiar with things. I am not a very techy person.

Thank you in advance for the help. Looks like it's a pretty good time to buy or soon at least so I am making sure I have the right wallet.

We have created a new kind of Bitcoin wallet which uses an extra phone for cold wallet functionality. Would love to get some feedback from the community.

During the last couple of months, we have been working on a project which we think will lower the barrier to entry into the world of highly secure Bitcoin storage.
We call our solution COINiD, and it is a regular Bitcoin wallet, but it can also work in cold wallet mode by signing transactions using a completely offline phone. In short, we separate the private key from the actual wallet and store it in a separate app that we call the COINiD Vault that handles the signing.
Since most people have an extra spare phone laying around, we believe it is easier for them to use our solution instead of buying extra hardware (Ledger or Trezor).
A video might do it more justice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3iuELMSW1w
Anyhow, we would love to get some help testing it and are announcing public early access today. So if you are interested in trying it out, please sign up on https://coinid.org, and you’ll get an invite to our iOS TestFlight, you will then be able to install either the Testnet Wallet or the Bitcoin Wallet.
Oh yeah, currently we have the iOS version ready for testing. We will announce the Android version soon.
If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer them here.
